Writers on my telly

21/2/2014

I've been trying to find a way to use this photo of Nathan Fillion on my blog for a while, and then I thought why be subtle??

I only discovered Castle last year, and I'm fully caught up on every episode now - it took a lot of work and dedication!

As a writer, albeit not a crime writer, I envy him having ideas thrust at him every single day. I love his enthusiasm and excitement over everything. I really want to play laser tag with him in his apartment.

Please, someone, say you recognise this character! Jake Sisko? Star Trek: Deep Space Nine? Anyone?

Sisko was a reporter, when he grew up over the course of the series. In fact, it was this guy that put me off e-readers when they first became popular, because he used a hand-held portable writing/reading device rather than paper. When I saw the first Kindle, it was Jake Sisko who I thought of. I've got over it since then!

Another crime writer!

I used to spend hours watching Murder She Wrote - they were repeated a lot while I was on maternity leave with my first son, and I slipped into the habit. Easy, gentle dramas with a twist ending - perfect for rocking a child to sleep in front of.

And yes, I join with the rest of the world in wondering how this lovely lady managed to get embroiled in so many murders, how so many of them happened in such a small town, and how she seemed to stumble upon dead bodies even when she travelled around meeting her publisher, her numerous nieces, and her old school friends.

I can't think of any other writers who feature in TV programmes, can you?

There was Ellery Queen back in the mid-70's. I was a kid, but I remember it. Seems to be more movies that have writer protagonists...

I thought about adding films, but I couldn't think of any cool ones. Plus, my memory for films is rubbish compared to TV. I don't know Ellery Queen... I'm off to IMDB that :-)

Dark contemporary fiction with a hint of paranormal
"Besides Annalisa's clever writing style, I enjoy the unpredictable plots and the characters that are so very normal, yet tragically broken in some way or another."
