Losing myself in my writing

20/6/2019

Ever since I put my blog in hiatus (this is not my blog, my blog has a link on the bar above, but it's on hiatus so there's no point clicking on it😁 ), I've felt a bit adrift from the writing community, from all my wonderful writer friends who are releasing books and doing other wonderful things. I'm feeling unconnected.

However, I'm heavily editing a novel, going on fantastic day trips with a friend and discovering the amazing towns we can get to via train, baking(ish), and reading. All of these things were getting a little lost in my attempts to keep up with the blogs I was following - I still read them from time to time, but I don't engage as much as I used to.

At the moment, I have no idea how to balance blogging again, or even if I want to - and I'm slowly coming to the conclusion there's no point to this update at all!

So, here's a small sample of what I've been doing recently x

You sound a lot like me at the moment, Annalisa! Happy away days to you and your friend.

We've managed Truro, Liskeard, Launceston, Totnes and Exeter so far - next up is Calstock and Lostwithiel. We've discovered some lovely independent cafes too!

I chuckled about your blogging dilemma - I sometimes feel the same. However, when that feeling comes over me I pause and reflect on how little time I have and then I'm good again.

It all takes time - blogging, writing, cooking (baking too), meeting with "real" friends (I say that respectfully, because I consider many of my followers on my blog friends) but... it all takes time and something has to give - so, I choose to give up stuff like blogging to focus on writing, baking (I love experimenting) and spending time with those physically close at hand.

Yes, we must make sacrifices, and when we do we must NOT feel bad about it - just nod and smile and carry on.

Today, I posted over at Pearson Report - first time in ages and while I still love my blog I let it now serve a purpose to fulfill a passion. I let it be a place to say and share stuff as the mood and time moves me.

I hope you find the "connection" you seem to be missing - it may be that a once-in-a-while wave is all that is necessary.

However it works, I'm waving in your direction today.

Sending smiles and happy thoughts, Jenny

Hi Jenny,

Waving back - sorry it took so long. Yes, there are so many pulls on our time, something's gotta give.

Friends are friends however you meet them, but IRL friends (usually ones who don't have the writing connection, in my experience) need nurturing. Talking about something other than writing is so nice sometimes!

I'll pop over to your blog now :-)
