I went to Pemberley

21/4/2014

As a child, my mum would take me for walks in Lyme Park, where she had been taken when she was a child. Years later, the house was used as Pemberley in the 1995 BBC version of Pride and Prejudice (or as I like to call it, the only version of Pride and Prejudice. Yes, I am a P&P geek!)

A couple of days ago, I got to visit it again! And I was very excited, because this time I went inside. I love stately homes; I can spend a long time staring at portraits, ceilings, furniture and curtains - although my kids would prefer I didn't.

In this case though, it was the building itself that held more interest. I could have sat there all day, but as we had a five hour trip home ahead of us, I was eventually persuaded to come away.

But, not before I recreated this scene, of course - how could I resist?

Annalisa Crawford, Author

Dark contemporary fiction with a hint of paranormal
"Besides Annalisa's clever writing style, I enjoy the unpredictable plots and the characters that are so very normal, yet tragically broken in some way or another."
