Book recommendations

1/11/2013

I was talking to a friend the other day about authors we liked, and only when I saw her blank face did it occur to me that I'm in a very privileged position of knowing about a lot more great authors than she does.

My friend browses Waterstone's and the book review pages of the national papers to find out what's being published whereas I look through my blog roll at what my blog friends are publishing - they are self-publishing, and they're being published by both small independent publishers and traditional publishers.

As a result I'm reading a variety of genres that until a couple of years ago I'd never even have considered picking off the shelf. Some of these authors, in blogging circles, are veritable superstars, and their names and books really ought to be more widely known. So I'm going to share some of them with you now:
Cassie Mae
Joanne Faries
Jessica Bell
Kyra Lennon
M Pax
Melissa Ann Goodwin
Christine Rains
Teresa F Morgan
Elizabeth Seckman
Ailsa Abraham
Marta Szemik
Alex J Cavanaugh
Click on the covers to link to the relevant pages on Amazon UK. Don't worry, they should open in new windows.

Thank you, Annalisa! This is very awesome of you.

I was just saying the other day how I once didn't know any authors and now it seems almost everyone I know is one. What an awesome turn. :_

I know what you mean - when I think about how insular my writing life was before I had my blog it's quite strange. I can't imagine writing without all the support I get on a daily basis.

You're a fantastic writer, Christine. It was actually The 13th Floor collection I was trying to talk to my friend about when I realised she had no idea of the awesome amount of talent out there!

Dark contemporary fiction with a hint of paranormal
"Besides Annalisa's clever writing style, I enjoy the unpredictable plots and the characters that are so very normal, yet tragically broken in some way or another."
