I was excited and honoured yesterday to see the announcement that Small Forgotten Moments has been shortlisted for this year's Gorsedh Kernow Holyer an Gof Publishers Awards. This is an award which seeks to promote and celebrate books about Corrnall or written in Cornish. Small Forgotten Moments is set on the slightly overlooked (in literary terms, at least) south east coast, in a place called Seaton.
What people are saying about Small Forgotten Moments:
"Small Forgotten Moments was part psychological thriller and part ghost story that often reminded me of Daphne du Maurrier’s Rebecca. An easy five stars." - Robert, Amazon review "A compelling novel, which I read twice because I enjoyed it so much. Full of mystery but ultimately as heartwarming as it is chilling. What a great concept for a story!" - LindaK, Amazon review "Beautifully written and seamlessly crafted, this story holds your attention from beginning to end." - Elizabeth Seckman, author
This is not the blurb, but I wish it was: Who is Cat? Well, that depends. Cat is the bitchy colleague in the office, but sometimes she's the girl who committed suicide at school. And sometimes she's neither of them. Sometimes Cat just lurks in Julia’s imagination, torturing her, telling her she should have died too. And she’s right, of course, because Cat is always right. Cat & The Dreamer is 10 years old, but the story itself is timeless - the tale of bullying and compliance, of an introvert hiding away from the world, of accepting you're never going to be the one with a happy ending. "This is the kind of book you could read over and over, and always spot something new to think about. A definite must read!" Just thought I'd share the latest review for Small Forgotten Moments with you. Ann S. Epstein has called it "Relentless, Intense, Vivid... as fearless as a gothic horror tale" in her review on her blog. Ann writes wonderful historical fiction and is a huge supporter of small presses and their authors. Check out the rest of her site once you've read her review of Small Forgotten Moments!
