Things have been pretty quiet here recently - just lot of writing, and catching up with the excellent Castle that I didn't realise was excellent until a couple of months ago. Luckily there's a cable channel that shows it daily, so it won't take me long!
I'm looking forward to my book signing event in my local bookshop on Wednesday. I can't wait to try out their gorgeous cakes.
I've been pretty busy over the last couple of weeks:
Here she is, Sadie in the window of my local bookshop!
The Bookshelf is a wonderful shop that's been around for at least as long as I've lived here. A few years ago it moved from a tiny unit to a larger one, and now incorporates a lovely tea shop.
I've got a book signing scheduled there for the 11th December which is just a little bit amazing when I consider that I was browsing these shelves when I was 12!!
That Sadie Thing is now available in paperback. You probably got that from the title of this post, and from the photo of me holding it! But, you know, I just want to make sure.
You can grab your copy here!
There are three stories exclusive to this edition of the book. Here's a very brief extract from one of the new stories, My Mother's Mother's Mother:
"One time, so family legend has it, she squared up to a policeman, all five foot two inches of her standing on tip-toes and staring him straight in the eye, neither of them conceding. Just as the policeman looked ready to arrest her she leant forward, kissed him on the cheek and skipped away.
Why didn’t you let yourself get arrested? asked my grandmother, disenchanted.
Why did you kiss him at all? asked my mother, disapprovingly."
I'm waiting for my proofs for That Sadie Thing to arrive. This morning I think I might have scared the relief postman by glaring at him as he walked past my house without stopping.
Here are some things I've been doing while I wait:
It is with great excitement I'm announcing the project I've been working on this summer.
That Sadie Thing will soon be available as a paperback, and it will include three new stories.
At the moment there isn't a release date. I'm still finalising the stories I want to include. But I will keep you up to date with all the developments.
