It's probably time for an update, seeing as though the last post was about a giveaway that happened weeks ago.
My excuse is that it's August, my kids are home from school, and I'm doing a course to become a personal trainer. It's really interesting to look more deeply into all the things I've been using as a fitness instructor for the past five years. My body is a little less keen on all the advanced training I'm putting it through at the moment - it's been a great way to realise I've been coasting at the gym for a while... and now all my muscles hurt!
There's also been a lot of puppy walking, and puppy playing, and puppy-telling-off. He's worse than a toddler, and likes to cause mischief when he's tired but fighting sleep.
I've been getting some writing done. I've had an idea for another short story collection, although at the moment it's too weird a concept to explain - hopefully it'll straighten itself out once I start to write. At the moment, most of my writing has taken the form of staring into space while watching endless reruns of The Big Bang Theory.
It's my writing process, and I'm sticking to it :-)
Today is the International Day of Happiness, so today I'm sharing things that make me happy.
I'm slightly in shock that the sunny, warm weather is still continuing... that should give you a clue as to how 'British' I am!Dartmoor ponies
Apart from at work - an air-conditioned gym - I haven't worn long sleeves for weeks, I have flip-flop tan lines (a huge achievement) and I've finally remembered to put sun-cream on when I leave the house.
Yesterday, we went out on Dartmoor and ate our lunch looking down over the most gorgeous reservoir. It's one of my favourite places because you can see all the way out to sea, although yesterday - as you can see from the photo - it was a bit cloudy and hazy. It's also one of the most quiet, peaceful places you will ever find.
The fresh air sparked a lot of creativity - and I am now currently in the middle of three projects: I have a novel which is out with a couple of readers, an old novel which needs tearing apart and sticking back together, and a third 'secret' project which I'm excited about.
All will be revealed soon.
How's the weather been treating you? This is how my cat is dealing with the weather!
I must admit, I'm suffering a little bit. I can't find a cool spot anywhere, which means my writing is suffering a little bit. Inside is stuffy, and if I try to take my laptop outside I need an elaborate system of extension leads because my battery is now for ornamental purposes only.
I don't want to complain about the weather, because nice sunny summers happen so rarely in the UK these days... but oh blimey, it's hot. I'm sure my brain is melting.
This draft of my current novel might take just a little longer than I expected.
