About the Author

Picture
Annalisa Crawford lives in beautiful south east Cornwall where the abundance of coastline and moorland inspires her creativity. She shares her home with her husband, Peter, and canine writing companion, Artoo. Her two sons have flown the nest, but still like a mention.

She writes dark contemporary fiction with a hint of paranormal. Her stories are primarily character-driven, exploring the complexity, deceit, surprises, and joys that life brings. She is endlessly intrigued by the secrets people keep from one another.

A short story writer at heart, Annalisa’s first story was published in New Fiction Magazine when she was twenty, and she has since had many more published in small press print journals and online platforms, including Writers’ Forum, The New Writers, Flash Fiction Magazine, Fictive Dream, and Reflex Fiction. Many of these stories have been republished in her short story collections.

Her first book, Cat & The Dreamer, was published in 2012 and became the catalyst for longer works and eventually novels: Grace & Serenity (2020), Small Forgotten Moments (2021), and One Tuesday, Early (2024).

Annalisa has earned numerous accolades in various competitions and awards. Notable achievements include securing 3rd place in the 2015 Costa Short Story Award and being longlisted for both the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and the Bath Short Story Award. Small Forgotten Moments won Silver Medal in the Wishing Shelf Book Awards, and her short story collection, The Clock in My Mother’s House, was shortlisted for the Rubery Book Award.

Dark contemporary fiction with a hint of paranormal
"Besides Annalisa's clever writing style, I enjoy the unpredictable plots and the characters that are so very normal, yet tragically broken in some way or another."
